Arachnids are invertebrate (spineless) animals that have an exoskeleton, a body divided into two parts, and eight jointed legs (whereas insects have only six.) Also unlike insects, arachnids have no antennae or wings. Mostly carnivorous (meat eaters) they feed on the pre-digested bodies of insects and other snall animals, and many secrete poison for use in killing prey or defending against enemies.
