Although rodent-like in appearance,
weasels and similar animals (such as minks and polecats) are in
their own genus of mammals, called "mustelids."

Just like skunks, weasels produce a pungent, offensive
musk when threatened or frightened. In addition to warding off predators
(or other weasels) the musk is unique to each animal, identifying
their age, sex, and dominance. |
